Herman Saddle

Herman Saddle Professional Review and Guide

"Herman Saddle is the broad pass between Mazama Dome and the northern face of Table Mountain. This short and popular tour offers west-and east-facing runs, an overview of the ski area, and fabulous views of the two dominant peaks in the region.

Drive to the Mount Baker ski area. From the lodge, climb south, using the Blueberry cat track, for 0.3 mile. Descend to Bagley Lakes, and then head due west, climbing the steepening slopes for about 0.5 mile. Stay north of the obvious deep gully. Climb north to 4,700 feet, and then head west to Herman
Saddle.

Difficulties: High avalanche potential (especially on Table Mountain loop); route finding required on Table Mountain loop; permit / fee area."
