Fire and Ice Trail

Fire and Ice Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Short but sweet, this wide, mostly paved and completely easy-to-follow trail winds its way through open meadow and forest populated by ancient hemlocks.

But just because they’re old, don’t expect mega-giant tree trunks—they’re at 4,400 feet here, and so most of the year they’re covered in snow and have a short growing season. (Perhaps that’s the secret to staying young-looking—spend most of the year buried under the snow.) The first half of the half-mile loop is paved; after that, the gravel trail is wide and still easy to follow."
