Seven Fingered Jack Climbers Approach Professional Reviews and Guides

"Seven Fingered Jack is the third highest summit of the Entiat Mountains. It is a craggy peak with seven prominent rock points along its spine. Richard Alt and partner are credited with the first ascent of Seven Fingered Jack in July 1932, although mountain goats certainly preceded any human summit climbers. Jack is not a difficult climb from the south. Easy rock slopes and a summit scramble lead to the top. It is a fairly remote peak, at least in terms of driving, although from the trailhead it’s a reasonable day climb.

The usual route isn’t very interesting, just a long snow or scree slog with a little bit of rock scrambling, but Seven Fingered Jack is climbed quite often because it rises to over 9,000 feet elevation. It is best climbed during a multi-day trip including Mount Maude and Mount Fernow, although most climbers, having summited Maude and Seven Fingered Jack, give up and head home without tagging the higher summit. It is a recommended early season climb unless you prefer tedious scree and talus climbing. Jack has excellent summit views including the Entiat Mountains, Glacier Peak, Bonanza Peak, the Chelan Mountains, the Dakobed Range, the Stuart Range, and Mount Rainier."
