"There are several Green Mountains in the Northwest, but most hikers agree this one is greenest. The color is the first thing you may notice when you arrive at the trailhead. As for flowers, you will be hiking through them much of the way, even later in the season when lower meadows are thick with fireweed and bracken. In midsummer, look for lupine, columbine, buttercup, bistort, bleeding hearts, glacier lilies, Sitka valerian, Indian paintbrush, cow parsnip, cinquefoil, tiger lilies, and more." Read more

"Appropriately if not creatively named, Green Mountain boasts hundreds of acres of emerald slopes. But look closer: within all of that green is a dazzling display of wildflowers of all colors. However, it’s hard to focus on Green Mountain’s brilliant ?oral arrangements when its jaw-dropping scenic sideshow, dominated by gargantuan snow cone Glacier Peak, vies for attention. Besides having one of the ?nest views in the North Cascades, Green boasts a historic ?re lookout too. The hike to this beloved lookout used to start from the Suiattle River valley, but FR 2680’s development made this hike a heck of a lot easier by knocking a couple miles and a couple thousand feet of elevation off of it." "The meadows alone make the trek to the top of 6500-foot Green Mountain worth the sweat and energy expended. Acres upon acres of emerald slopes burst with a dazzling display of wildflowers. But it’s hard to stay focused on Green Mountain’s brilliant floral arrangements when its jaw-dropping scenic sideshow is dominated by the gargantuan snow cone of Glacier Peak. Green Mountain offers one of the finest views in the North Cascades, and did I fail to mention the historical fire lookout to boot?" Read more
