South Beach - San Juan Island Professional Review and Guide
"Wander along open bluffs overlooking Haro Strait to the longest beach in the San Juan Islands. American Camp’s 1,200 acres of shoreline, prairie grassland, and forest form a wonderful mosaic of landscapes on the south end of San Juan Island, and it’s historically one of the most interesting places as well. At low tides, it’s possible to walk the trails along the bluffs, then return by walking along the beach.
From the ferry terminal in Friday Harbor, drive south
out of town on Mullis Street until it becomes Cattle Point Road. Drive south on Cattle Point Road 4 miles from Friday Harbor, past False Bay Drive. Cattle Point Road will curve to the left, where you’ll enter the American Camp unit of San Juan Island National Historical Park. Bear right and follow signs to the visitor center and trailhead."
