Gunderson Loop Cruise mountain bike

Gunderson Loop Cruise (mountain bike) Professional Review and Guide

"Forks, Washington is located on the isolated and beautiful Pacific coast side of the Olympia Peninsula. The region is covered by a hilly patchwork of forests and clear-cuts, evidence of the timber industry that has long been the lifeblood of this community.

This route is an easy ride on well-maintained logging roads and abandoned railroad lines. It is ideal for a beginning off-road bicyclist, and is even suitable for towing a trailer. Take a map and a compass when biking in the forest. Please yield to hikers and equestrians, stop and get off the trail so they can walk by. Be sure and explore Forks, especially the Forks Visitor Center and Timber Museum. Terrain: the first and last stretch follows Highway 101, which has a wide and well-paved shoulder. Once off the highway you'll ride on relatively well-maintained and level gravel roads. As with any unpaved road, expect mud when it rains and dust when its hot."
