I started a mom-child hikes group and this was our 2nd hike of the year. I wouldn't call it a hike, but more of a nature walk. We saw plenty of birds including egrets, hawks etc. Nice level hike-about 1 mile before you actually hit the Spencer Island Bridge. Plenty of places to sit and have a picnic etc. Good for children.

FYI-directions aren't very clear. All of us weren't sure of where to go and got a little lost on the way there. Once you hit Langus park, park in the large lot across from the animal shelter. There is a paved path along the river that goes behind a building and continues on until for about a mile until you hit Spencer Lake.

Up! It's a good climb to the lake, falls make for good rest stops. Parking lot was full. Trail and lake were a little crowded but hiking was fine.

A nice hike, A little steep and strenuous, but that was with a 35 Lb baby on my back. The lake was beautiful, and swimable
