Bullion Basin

Bullion Basin Professional Review and Guide

"This trail has high, subalpine meadows blanketed in deep snow, wonderful views of the surrounding craggy peaks, and an array of destination options to assure solitude for those who want it.

The trail climbs steeply, and there are some serious avalanche slopes around the area, so snowshoers here need to be ready for a workout and must know how to recognize and avoid avalanche dangers. But when the conditions are stable, this is a wonderful winter world to explore and experience."

Spectacular on a clear day. Bullion Basin is the ridge opposite the ridge of the Crystal Mtn slopes. From the peak(6200')of the basin you look across at the ski slopes and resort peaks which appear to be below you and there, standing out above and behind the Crystal Mtn. Ridge is Mt. Rainier! Awsome! To your left is a clear view of Mt. Adams and Chinook Pass in the valley below. It is definitely worth the last 500' of elevation to see this sight. From 4400' to 6200' it is a wonderful snowshoe hike RT. Roughly 2hours up and 1hour down. I can't wait to see it in the summer! Ralph Reitan
