Mountain Lake Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Moran State Park is the crowning glory of the San Juan Islands. A 5,252-acre preserve featuring primarily old-growth forest, the park has 30 miles of hiking trails, 25 miles of biking trails (restricted in the summer to 11 miles), and 6 miles of riding trails. It encompasses several lakes, numerous streams, and two iconic waterfalls.
Mount Constitution is the highest point in the San Juan Islands. At 2,409 feet, it offers panoramic views that have been said to be among the world’s best. On a clear day, you can see the Olympic Mountains to the south, the Cascades to the east, the Canadian Rockies to the north, and get a 360-degree view of the islands that stud Puget Sound. You can see Mount Baker, Mount Rainier, and the lakes of Moran State Park. And there is a stone observation tower to enhance the view."
