Gibbs Lake

Gibbs Lake Professional Review and Guide

"Hike around a tranquil little lake nestled in the hills south of bustling Port Townsend. Amble through peaceful fir and cedar groves. Watch ducks swim across placid waters while songbirds nesting in shoreline reeds hum sweet melodies. And savor the sweet fragrance of blossoming rhododendrons in the spring.

Nine miles of trails crisscross more than 650 acres of forested hilly parkland surrounding Gibbs and Beausite lakes. But all this could have been stumps without an active citizenry and some enlightened government officials, which resulted in the transfer of this former Washington State Department of Natural Resources plot to Jefferson County Parks. The Quimper Trails Association maintains the trails, and the group continues to plan and build new trails. This loop is a perfect introduction to the park."
