Coleman Pinnacle

Coleman Pinnacle Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Coleman Pinnacle is the high point on Ptarmigan Ridge, the northeast spine of Mount Baker. This peak has excellent access from Artist Point at the end of Mount Baker Highway (State Route 542). Artist Point typically opens in July and closes after the first major snowfall, usually at the beginning of October.

In some years, the snowpack is so high that the last portion of the road to Artist Point remains closed for the entire year. Artist Point is a fine name for this spot, which has a breathtaking 360-degree view of the dramatic glaciated landscape and offers a close-up look at Mount Baker—and Mount Shuksan, one of the most photographed mountains in the world. The view is easily accessible to everyone, even those without the ability or inclination to go farther than the edge of the parking lot."
