Suiattle River

Suiattle River Professional Review and Guide

"Glacier Peak’s craggy pinnacle at 10,528 feet in elevation can be seen from Seattle. It is one of the big Cascade volcanoes. The area abounds with flowers and rain forest-like vegetation. Less than a mile in there are magnificent old-growth trees, nurse logs, and ferns. The views from Vista Ridge to the north include Miners Ridge, Plummer Mountain, Dome Peak, and a close-up view of Glacier Peak.

This North Cascades wilderness loop course heads southwest from the Suiattle River on the Milk Creek Trail. After 7.5 miles, it joins up with the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) until Vista Creek at approximately 20 miles. From there, the trail follows the Suiattle River back to the start. There are a lot of steep ascents and fast, runnable descents. The views are amazing and the trail is well maintained, though not especially well marked. Water is available from several streams if you follow safe treatment procedures."
