Road 2060 Clear Creek Valley

Road 2060: Clear Creek Valley Professional Review and Guide

"The Clear Creek Valley, just outside Darrington, is a small, relatively lonely watershed rimmed by steep cliffs with interesting, exposed rock faces. The logging and mining activity that the roads served was long enough ago that many of the most obvious scars have healed, and there is a healthy second-growth forest with impressive relict old-growth patches here and there.

Though it is close to Darrington and the Mountain Loop Highway, there are relatively few traces of visitors on this road, and the day I was there I saw not a soul the whole day, though it was a sunny summer Sunday. Road 2060 takes the high route up the Clear Creek valley, offering a more rewarding walk than the low road, No. 2065 (Hike 28), which runs parallel along the valley floor."
