Glacier Peak

Glacier Peak Professional Review and Guide

"A spring ski ascent of Glacier Peak, although properly in a wilderness area, can hardly be thought of as a “wilderness experience.” The number of people entering this area increases every year. One recent Fourth of July saw over 50 skiers and climbers on the summit of the volcano.

Such crowds may make it difficult to find campsites in Boulder Basin. Come early, or avoid high-use periods such as weekends and holidays. Be sure to bring a rope, ice axes, and crampons. Difficulties: High avalanche potential; glacier travel; permit/fee area."
