Celebrating Wildflowers Darrington Wildflower Festival

Celebrating Wildflowers: Darrington Wildflower Festival Professional Review and Guide

"The Mount Baker–Snoqualmie National Forest, the Washington Native Plant Society, and the town of Darrington all work very hard at making this little wildflower festival worthy of your attention. Darrington makes it easy to enjoy yourself, without hassle. There is no entrance fee, and parking is plentiful and free. When you first arrive get a schedule of events and decide which plant walks to join. There are short and long walks, some along Old Sauk Trail, to accommodate nearly everyone’s abilities, interest, and time.

These walks are led by Native Plant Society experts and often include interesting tidbits about historical plant use and how plants were discovered and named. Sign up and then spend the time in between walks at the numerous presentations. In the past these have included medicinal uses of wildflower essences, photographing wildflowers, identifying the wildflowers of Washington, and organic gardening."

Unfortunately the 2003 Darrington Wildflower Festival has been cancelled. Sounds like it will be back in 2004.
