Breccia Peak

Breccia Peak Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Breccia Peak is a 6487-foot point on the rim of the ancient volcano that now cradles Round Lake in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. Breccia is a term for sedimentary rocks composed of large angular fragments filled with a matrix of smaller particles of mineral cement, like sand or clay, which binds the rock together.

Breccia Peak and the ridge surrounding Round Lake are made of breccia from ancient volcano flows. Just a mile from Lost Creek Ridge Trail, popular with people heading to Lake Byrne to fish, Breccia is a hidden gem. Breccia is rarely scrambled, but not because of a lack of beauty or accessibility."
