Columbia Hills State Park

Columbia Hills State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The campground is on the shore of 90-acre Horsethief Lake, which is actually a backwater created by a railroad jetty on the Columbia River. Sun worshippers will appreciate the campground’s lack of shade.

This park covers 3,338 acres and is large for the number of sites. Access to the Columbia River is easy, but beginning sailboarders would be safer starting out on the lake. It can be very windy in the Columbia River Gorge. Some of the oldest petroglyphs in the Northwest are upriver, but you can view them only as part of a guided tour with a park ranger."
