Mount St Helens Summit

Mount St. Helens Summit Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Hike to the top of Washington’s (and the country’s) most famous active volcano. It’s a steep, rocky, dusty, waterless slog up boulder ?elds and pumiced slopes to St. Helens’s 8200-plus-foot rim—but worth it!

Views are spellbinding into the volcano’s glacier-cradling crater and across the blast zone to Spirit Lake and the Mount Margaret backcountry. The view is amazing, too, of four other impressive Northwest volcanoes in the distance."

"On this climb up Mount St. Helens, snowshoers can simply walk straight up the deep snow piled on the flank of the big volcano, taking a direct approach to the rim of the massive crater. Along the way, they can enjoy sweeping views out over the southern reaches of Washington’s Cascades." Read more
