Craggy Peak Trail

Craggy Peak Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Climb to the semi-open slopes high above Blue Lake, then traverse the alpine country to a junction with the Boundary Trail just south of Craggy Peak. For a short distance the route passes through a forest of large, well-spaced hemlock and Douglas fir.

Then you enter an old clear-cut, where huckleberry bushes grow between the small trees. The course parallels Wright Creek as you climb. Notice the pumice that nearly covers the tread in spots; it was once part of Mount St. Helens. The 1980 eruption spread pumice over a wide area. Watch for Roosevelt elk in this open area; you will probably see their tracks on the trail."
