Midnight Mountain Professional Review and Guide
"Of the several routes to Copper Butte, this is the shortest to this highest point in the Kettles. And thanks to a starting elevation of more than 5500 feet, it’s short on elevation gain too. The hike starts on the Old Stage Trail, a restored section of a wagon road constructed in 1892. An early attempt by legislators to construct a northern east–west route across the state, the Old Stage route was short lived, replaced in 1898 by one over Sherman Pass."
