"The trails in this area are off-limits to motorcycles, making them noticeably smoother. There were no severe technical sections to navigate, so pure climbers will love these trails; and, of course, the steep climbs mean steep descents. This is classic singletrack.

Aerobically, the trails are advanced, with steep, demanding efforts; you can climb clockwise form the Rock Creek Trailhead, at 2,530 feet in elevation, to Basalt Peak, at 6,000, in 5.2 miles. Trail system was not fully researched; however, what was researched was incredible- see for yourself! Scenery: Deep woods; gorgeous overlook from spur trail off Basalt Ridge Trail; views of the world from 6,000' Basalt Peak."
