Mad Lake from the South

Mad Lake from the South Professional Review and Guide

"This is an upper-elevation trail with incredible wildflower-covered meadows, rock formations, Entiat Mountains views, challenging climbs, and thrilling descents.

The trail- hard-packed, dusty, and with numerous cinder-blocked sections- passes many others along the way and can lead to many other explorations, but this primer on the area's upper-elevation trails is an excellent ride and is quite satisfying by itself. It's an easy route to follow, but a difficult trail to ride."

I've only ridden to Mad Lake from the north, which follows a different trail. I'd recommend that option, versus the one described here. Here is my review for that version: We did it as an out and back ride, although it can be done as a loop. If done this way, it's all singletrack trail, and is generally in good condition. The scenery and views are awesome. The trail takes you back to Mad Lake, which gets very littel traffic, even during peak summer weekends. If you make it out here, I highly recommend that you explore some of the other trails in the region, including Chikamin Creek and Alder Ridge, both of which are nearby.
