Hatchery Creek Trail to Lake Augusta

Hatchery Creek Trail to Lake Augusta Professional Review and Guide

"A day hike or backpack to a high meadow basin and Lake Augusta. Hatchery Creek Trail is a steep, dry trail climbing to a high ridge, where high meadow wandering awaits. Although this trail offers one of the shortest approaches to the high subalpine meadows of Icicle Ridge, including wildflowers and views, it is not a popular hike, often overlooked by day hikers with their sights set on alpine lakes.

Determined day hikers often make the 16-mile out and back to Lake Augusta, one of the highest lakes in the area, but it is usually the domain of backpackers willing to hump a ruck up a hot, dusty trail."
