Fifes Ridge Professional Review and Guide
"The tightly clumped spires of Fifes Ridge present a formidable sight from any vantage point, but as you hike closer to them, the rocky ridge appears ever more menacing and imposing. Perhaps that’s partly because the trail you have to hike to get close to the precipitous ridge can be menacing and imposing in its own right.
You’ll climb steeply and steadily, earning the views with every step forward. Fortunately, the views are worth it, and not just the views at the end of the route. As you climb, you’ll enjoy great local scenery as the trail climbs a rugged little alpine creek valley and occasionally darts out to great viewpoints midway up the mountain. The long, broad basin of the American River and the long, sweeping line of American Ridge stretch out before you every time you gain a vantage point, while Fifes Peak and its ragged, jagged ridgeline tower above you."
