Though this trail is open to wheeled machines (i.e., motorcycles), it remains a fine option for hikers visiting during the “shoulder seasons”—spring and fall. The route offers miles of creekside hiking, with a plethora of spring wildflowers and autumn wildlife. Throughout the year, hikers will encounter a host of birds chirping, flitting, and perching in the old-growth trees that line the valley. Not a capital-W wilderness but certainly a stunningly pretty one. The trail immediately enters old-growth and old second-growth forest as it angles gently toward the creek. The trail contours along the hill, staying relatively flat as it explores the forest.
