Cooper Lake and River Walk Trail

Cooper Lake and River Walk Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This trail parallels a road, mostly out of sight. Ride if you will, but you and the children will miss out on some good things. A sylvan walk along the Cooper River leads families through old-growth forest land, some of which is owned by a timber company but proposed for a land exchange.

Clear-cuts are visible across the river on steep hillsides. The trail leads to lovely Cooper Lake lying alongside the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Children were wading and floating on inner tubes when we were there."

nice hike didnt realize how long we walked until we reached campground at end and decided to turn back. nice easy hike and very fun. Great views of the river and mountains.
The trail was very nice, short enough for a good day hike with time left over to relax and have lunch or a snack at the clear and picturesque Cooper Lake. The trail is rated easy, but does offer some switchbacks and elevation gain and loss which adds some interest. Most of the trail does not offer much in the way of views, but sections of it run along the river, and at some points the trail opens up to gorgeous views of the river and access points for a quick cool down.
