American Lake

American Lake Professional Review and Guide

"Dogs love lakes. People love lakes. Dogs love meadows and fields of grass. People love meadows and fields of huckleberries! This trail fills all those needs.

The route follows the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) south from Chinook Pass, weaving around alpine lakes of all sizes, cutting through dry-side old-growth forests, and pushing through wildflower meadows and tight brambles of fruit-rich huckleberry bushes. Oh, there are nice views, too, with Mount Rainier visible from the early sections of the trail and the peaks of the William O. Douglas Wilderness seen from the latter sections of trail."
