Lyman Lakes

Lyman Lakes Professional Review and Guide

"This 16.2-mile out-and-back backpack trip starts at a remote mining-town-turned-retreat deep in the Railroad Creek Valley and leads to the spectacular turquoise Lower Lyman Lake in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. From here, explore meadows above and glacier-fed Upper Lyman Lake, or climb to Cloudy Pass for even more rewarding views.

This outing begins with a scenic 40-mile boat ride to the trailhead up the narrow, inland fjord of Lake Chelan, a monumental work of glaciation. Its deepest point is 1,486 feet, making it the second deepest lake in North America. Its bottom is 490 feet below sea level—the lowest point on the North American continent."
