Endangered Species, Mating Dance: Columbian White-tailed Deer Rut Professional Review and Guide

"See endangered Columbian white-tailed deer at their refuge on the Columbia River during this month, the peak of their mating season. You almost always see white-tailed does and fawns at the refuge, especially in the early morning and late afternoon, but the bucks are visible only during rut. Their antlers are at their biggest then, and they use them on everything from tree branches to fence posts.

Because bucks are less wary during rutting season, you may even see them clashing antlers with each other. For your best chance of seeing them, ask at headquarters where they have been seen lately and sit quietly in that location in the early morning. It may take a while. In mid-November we saw two bucks chasing does early in the morning near headquarters."
