Soda Peaks Lake Trail

Soda Peaks Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Hike through old-growth forest to the great views on the ridgeline near Soda Peaks. Then descend past beautiful Soda Peaks Lake to Trapper Creek in the bottom of a canyon.

Early in the season snow may cover the portion of the route from the ridgeline down to Soda Peaks Lake. In June the last mile of the road leading to the trailhead may be snow-covered and impassable, adding an extra mile to the hike."

The location of the trail posted on the Topographic map is not correct. It is located in the Trapper Creek Wilderness. About 50 miles directly west of the posted position
Great access to the Trapper Creek Wilderness via forest roads outside of Carson. Steep, but short hike up the ridge before the descent to the lake. Lake is pristine with several camp sites surrounding it with views to Rainier, Helens, Adams. The day hike down to Trapper Creek is a heavy dayhike as the lake sits ~2000 ft above the creekbed. Worth the great views, old growth and isolated creek showing some evidence from early 1900s trapping and mining.
