This fair-sized lake surrounded by old-growth forest is tucked in a cirque within reach of lofty and verdant green Point Mountain. While you can reach the lake by a much shorter and easier route, starting from the Wyeth Campground avoids a long car approach over bumpy dirt roads, replaced instead by a long foot journey up the imposing gorge Face via one of the loneliest trails in the national scenic area. After this great conditioner, your reward will be solitude and the satisfaction gained from tackling one of the gorge’s most challenging trails.
