The Indian Heaven Wilderness is a gentle mountain landscape that covers a high volcanic plateau in the Washington Cascades southwest of Mt. Adams. Instead of featuring a towering, glacier-clad mountain like many other wilderness areas in our region, this wilderness protects hundreds of lakes and beautiful subalpine meadows amid an open mid-elevation forest. Hiking here is relatively easy because elevation gains are generally small and there seems to be a new lake with fine campsites around every bend.
