Beacon Rock State Park

Beacon Rock State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Just 1 mile east of the town of Skamania, Beacon Rock looms over the highway like a monolith from outer space. In fact, it is one of the largest monoliths in the nation. Serious hikers can take the steep 1-mile trail to the top of the rock (elevation 848 feet) for a fine view of this part of the Columbia Gorge.

The park covers 5,100 acres on both sides of the highway, including 1.8 miles of shoreline on the Columbia River. There are 14 miles of hiking trails, 7 of them shared with equestrians and mountain bikers. Several creeks offer excellent fishing."
