High Lakes Ramble Trail

High Lakes Ramble Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Set in the middle of a broad meadow and thin forest, the Chain of Lakes lie strung out like a strand of jewels in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Sparkling blue-green waters reflect the glacier-covered north face of Mount Adams.

Huckleberries, wild strawberries, and an assortment of mushrooms thrive in the area around the lakes, and wildlife—from white-tailed deer and black bear to deer mice and blackbirds—linger close by to feed on the bountiful harvest. This route is on the border of the Mount Adams Wilderness, sharing many features with nearby routes to Takhlakh Lake and Council Bluff."
