Squires Lake

Squires Lake Professional Review and Guide

"Squires Lake Park is a little gem that is close to Interstate 5. It is easy to find and has well-maintained, well-marked trails. The trails pass by the lake and beaver ponds and run along the ridge. From the ridge, the vista opens onto Lake Samish to the north and Skagit Valley to the south. The sign at the park entrance informs that “Squires Lake Park was created in 1995 through the efforts of the Whatcom Land Trust and generous private contributions.

Local businesses and individuals constructed the dam, built the parking lot, and paid for initial development and park management. An anonymous gift of $3,000,000 matched Whatcom County Conservation Futures money to buy the property. Squires Lake is now protected by a conservation easement held by the Land Trust. A product of community cooperation, this park is for you to enjoy and respect.”"
