Windy Pass via Pacific Crest Trail

Windy Pass via Pacific Crest Trail Professional Review and Guide

"For the best flowers and hiking, Windy Pass is highly recommended. Some hikers swear it is one of the best flower walks in the Cascades.

The hike begins on the Pacific Crest Trail and is accessed at the first switchback on Slate Peak Road, elevation 6800 feet. From the trailhead you will be heading north. In the first 1.2 mile, the PCT climbs a meadow shelf and contours the steep slope of Slate Peak before descending to Benson Basin and camps. You can see the scars of gold mining days from the north side of Slate Peak."
