Tumwater Falls

Tumwater Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Despite or maybe because of its location next to I-5 and underneath the now defunct Olympia Brewing Company, Tumwater Falls along the Deschutes River is like a breath of fresh air within its concrete jungle surroundings.

It’s not hard to see why this area on the outskirts of the state capitol has been a popular place for people to congregate for thousands of years; indeed the estuary by Lower Falls was the site of one of the largest Native American settlements in the region long before the pioneer days and white settlement."

It’s literally right off the freeway! I pulled over hoping to take a quick break, let the dog out and move on but ended up spending a couple of hours on the trail , watching the salmon , plants and shrubs and enjoyed the gentle walk along the water and falls.
