Pinnacle Peak Saddle Trail

Pinnacle Peak Saddle Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This short climb up to the saddle between Pinnacle and Plummer Peaks offers great views of Mount Rainier along the trail and from the saddle. This hike is uphill all the way to the turnaround point.

Wildflowers, such as lupine and magenta paintbrush, often grow along the trail in July and August. Pikas inhabit the rockfields along the trail, squeaking at passersby. The saddle offers an excellent view of Mount Rainier. Hope for a clear day."

This was an absolutely wonderful short hike. Unlike some trails that don't reward you until you get to the top, this offers nice views of the mountain most of the way up. It begins roughly 500 or more ft. below Paradise and ends up 1000 or more above it. We had a rare "after school starts, 80 degree, September" weekend offering up great views of climbers coming down from the summit of Mt. Ranier and Camp Muir. Make sure you bring plenty of water for this one as it's definitely an uphill venture. Put some weight on your back if you're in training and bring your binoculars !!! Thanks Chris n Vicki
