Heart Lake Professional Review and Guide
"This relatively uncrowded trail samples all of the many charms of the Goat Rocks Wilderness. Starting in a lovely high-elevation forest, you ascend into flower-choked meadows along a ridge with amazing views of Packwood Lake and Mt. Rainier, pass through a rocky basin below craggy Johnson Peak, and then descend to gorgeous Heart Lake in a scenic basin beneath meadowy slopes. Best of all the lake features a wonderful campsite in a grove of trees with fine views and surprisingly few people."
