Squires Lake Trail

Squires Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Straddling the Whatcom-Skagit county line, Squires Lake is cooperatively managed by both counties’ parks departments. Opened to the public in 1997, this little park located just off of busy I-5 has become a popular place for area hikers, birdwatchers, trail runners, and hardcore trekkers wishing to continue farther on the Pacific Northwest Trail.

Comprised of land belonging to the Squires family since 1905, the little lake and its surroundings were acquired by Whatcom County Parks in 1995."

Beautiful hike and great hike for children and/or dogs. The trail is well maintained and you have a few options once you hit the lake. We did the normal Squire Lake loop which offered gorgeous views of the lake the entire way around with moderate incline during the last 1/2. If you want to hike more you can add on the Beaver Pond trail as well. Will definitely be doing this hike again this summer.
