Gale Meadows Pond

Gale Meadows Pond Professional Review and Guide

"Gale Meadows Pond is a small, shallow pond located within a wildlife management area, with views of Stratton Mountain. Prominent species include waterfowl, loon, beaver, mink, muskrat, moose, black bear, whitetailed deer, and coyote.

Located just north of Bondville, Gale Meadows Pond provides an ideal spot for a relaxed day of fishing, bird watching, or simply exploring. This shallow pond offers a varied shoreline. Marshes hug parts of the shore, particularly the southern end, where reed, sedge, alder, and cattail provide habitat for beaver; you will see lots of evidence of them. Large stands of fern—ostrich, sensitive, cinnamon, and royal—spill over the banks. At both the southern and northern ends, the sun-whitened stumps left over from the pond’s damming provide nesting holes for hundreds of tree swallows; several wood duck nesting boxes provide more nesting space."
