Rock River Williamsville to Route 30

Rock River: Williamsville to Route 30 Professional Review and Guide

"The Rock enters the West River just upstream of Brattleboro, Vermont. Its scenery, rapids, and accessibility make it one of the more interesting of the many runnable West River tributaries (five at last count), and its runoff pattern causes it to run frequently during the spring snowmelt or after a summer freshet.

While the rapids on the Wardsboro and Ball Mountain Brook are bouldery in character, the Rock is unusually ledgy. The three major rapids on this section all have significant ledge holes, and in two cases they are river-wide. The setting is classic Vermont: a covered bridge; a quaint town center; and a narrow, high stone arch bridge on the upper section give way to a steep wooded valley with few man-made intrusions on the lower half."
