Quechee State Park

Quechee State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"In a state full of incredible natural spectacles, Quechee Gorge has got to be one of Vermont’s most amazing and unique sights. Plunging 165 feet down to the Ottauquechee River—whew, I’m glad they shortened that to name the gorge—Quechee Gorge reminds me of the scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where Robert Redford and Paul Newman, when cornered by the “good” guys, jump off their perch on a sheer cliff into a raging river.

Seen from the US 4 bridge that passes over it, the gorge’s depth looks almost surreal. You’ll be able to tell when you’re there, even if you miss the signs for the gorge and the state park. There are always a bunch of people who have stopped to look over the bridge."
