Vernon: Over the Border, and Welcome Back Professional Review and Guide
"This is a pleasant ride across the border into northern Massachusetts and back. With the exception of the Tyler Hill climb, it's an easy pedal over gently rolling terrain, on roads that are either sparsely traveled or have exceptionally wide shoulders. Be particularly cautious at railroad crossings.
The tracks along this route are at oblique angles to the road and can easily catch a wheel. If you can't approach the track at a right angle, it's best to get off and walk across. The route begins just south of Vernon, at a parking pull-off next to the Schoolhouse Grocery and Restaurant, a good stop on either end of the ride. Things to see: Town of Vernon, Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Facility, town of Bernardston, MA. Terrain: One hill, otherwise flat to gently rolling."
