Underhill State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The air is clear and cool as you approach Underhill State Park. Perched on the western flanks of Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak, this is the best place from which to launch your hiking adventures on and around this renowned peak. You can literally begin a hike up Mount Mansfield from your campsite.
Sites 8 through 11 are farthest from the rest of the campground. These hike-in sites are up past the park shelter, an open log-cabin-type structure in the day-use and picnic area. The sites all require a hike of between 50 and 70 feet, so they are well secluded. The only other people you’ll see from within one of these sites are your immediate neighbors, and at night all you’ll see are glimmers of their campfire through the moderately dense forest of mostly young deciduous trees, with lots of beech and maples."
