Stratton Pond and Mountain

Stratton Pond and Mountain Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This classic hike includes the largest lake on the Long Trail and the summit where James P. Taylor first visualized its creation. In 1917, his dream came true and today Stratton Pond and Mountain are a key link along the trail’s 270-milejourney from Massachusetts to Canada. The highest mountain in Vermont south of Killington, Stratton offers hikers 360-degree views of four states from its summit tower, while the pond’s blue waters provide an idyllic resting spot for camping, picnicking, and wildlife observation."
