    Champlain Islands Classic Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Pedal hard for a day, or divide it in two and spend the night. This ride would be a fine introduction to overnight bicycle touring. The scenery is great, pedaling isn’t difficult, and there are enough interesting stops to fill a couple of days. The route generally follows the Lake Champlain Bikeway, and there are suggestions for sidetrips and extensions."

Great flat ride. The first half is mostly on Rt. 2 which has lots of traffic. If you wanted to do a shorter ride I would do the second half of this ride, from Swanton to the end. It's more scenic, a lot less cars, and hilly. It would be great to break this ride up into two days and stay somewhere along the way. Follow the directions in the guide closely they don't always follow the bike signs, just keep that in mind. Enjoy!

Well marked. Good trail. A bit of heavy traffic in the northeast portion but not too bad. Make sure to have your water filled for the last 1/3. No shops, stops or stores for the hilly end.
