Much more noteworthy for its Okemo ski slopes, Ludlow Mountain rewards hikers as well. On a clear day, from the mountain’s summit tower, you can gaze afar, taking in much of southern Vermont and peaks in three surrounding states. Thegradual 3-mile Healdville Trail that meanders to the top provides an excellent passageway throughout the year for hikers of all ages. Tunneling through extensive hardwood forests, mostly along moderate grades, the hike’s most difficult part is climbing the final few staircases to enjoy the splendid 360-degree vista.
