"A half-day hike from the Connecticut River to the top of Mount Monadnock. Lots of Wildlife, an invigorating climb, but (at present) no summit view."

8/5/2008 is out of date on this one. To find trail -- go .2 north of the bridge from Colebrook to a gravel pit on the west side of the highway. There is a "Trailhead" sign on the highway. Drive in and follow the "Trailhead parking" signs to the left. Park and follow the very sketchy path of beaten-down grass through a meadow towards the mountain. When you reach the woods, the trail becomes better defined. Also -- it looked as if it was OK to climb the tower up to just under the cabin -- I didn't do so because there was thunder going on as I approached and reached the summit. This trail was very wet, as there had been rain on several of the preceding days.
