This is a quick, steep hike up to lovely panoramic views. You can reach the trail head here by taking Route 15 west out of the village and take a right onto Hogback Road before you cross the bridge. Go a little over a mile on Hogback Road. Once you reach the trail head you will probably want to put on some bug spray and head north on the white blazed Long Trail. The forest is really diverse here, with a lot of lovely hemlock, fir, birch, black cherry, red pine, maple, spruce, and more. You will also see wildflowers this time of year and little stream beds. After the steep climb you reach Prospect Rock, offering wonderful views of the Lamoille River and the Sterling Range. Although the trail is a little rigorous it is just short enough that I believe it is kid-friendly.
